Pinwheel Hair Color Technique
The pinwheels keep spinning at the salon in Vancouver, WA with hair stylist Bee Sam. Model Kayla Gathright came in to the salon for one of Bee Sam’s top requested hair coloring services known as the pinwheel hair color technique. Kayla went with a subtle version of the pinwheel which calls for 2-colors that are slightly off from another. For Kayla, colorist Bee Sam worked both mocha and neutral hair colors alternating between the two shades for a subtle and natural effect. Depending on the lighting you can see how the hair ranges from natural to bold. This is all part of the multi-dimensional effect that you can get with pinwheel hair coloring. Pinwheels can also be more dramatic and contrasting. Take the fashion color pinwheels which we have all become accustomed to seeing. If you are unfamiliar with what a pinwheel is, it is a form of coloring and/or highlighting where hair is sectioned off from the center of the scalp down to the tips in coordinated patterns. Colors are then applied to each section. Combining two or more colors can create a unique visual. Alternating and ordering the colors also adds to the pinwheel effect. Kayla shows off her subtle pinwheel hair color for photographer Amy Garza who captures its multi-color effect. These photographs were taken around downtown Vancouver, WA.
